STRUCTURAL STEEL SERVICES

Twenty20 Engineering delivers precision structural steel fabrication with a professional, code-compliant approach. Our modern machinery, including laser and plasma cutters, band saws, drills, and punches, ensures accurate results for every project.

WHAT STRUCTURAL STEEL SERVICES DO WE OFFER?

Twenty20 Engineering streamlines your project from design to fabrication. Our team uses Tekla Structures to create precise models and detailed drawings, ensuring efficient production of secondary steel elements like:

  • Gantries
  • Mezzanine floors
  • Staircases and balustrades
  • Doorframes and bulkhead supports
  • Lifting Beams

We are confident of our ability to fulfil your structural steelwork needs. Adhering to standards like BS EN 1090 CE Marking and BS EN 1090 Execution Class 3, we furnish all materials certification and conduct NDT testing tailored to project specifications.

HOW DOES TWENTY20 ENGINEERING CARRY OUT TUBE LASER CUTTING?

At Twenty20 Engineering, our tube-cutting operations require a 3D CAD model and 2D technical drawings. If needed, we offer these through our engineering and CAD services. Upon receiving or generating the appropriate manufacturing data and obtaining customer approval, we proceed to provide a quote. Following instructions, tube-cutting operations begin promptly, ensuring the final product meets our customer's specifications before delivery.

WHAT IS TWENTY20 ENGINEERING’S PROCESS FOR FABRICATING STRUCTURAL STEEL?

In structural steel fabrication, raw steel material goes through a series of stages to transform into designed components ready to be installed in construction projects. The process generally includes the following stages:

  • Design and preparation: At Twenty20 Engineering, we initiate our projects with a thorough understanding of the project scope and requirements. We develop a detailed design, crafting both 2D drawings and a 3D CAD model of the structure. These drawings and models define the dimensions and connection details for each component, taking into account the structural properties of the materials. To execute our structural steel fabrication projects with precision and efficiency, we use the advanced capabilities of Tekla Structures.
  • Material selection: Twenty20 Engineering conducts an extensive project analysis to determine the most suitable materials. Structural steel, composed mainly of carbon, is chosen for its durability and strength.
  • Cutting and shaping: After finalising the design to meet the customer's specifications, Twenty20 Engineering proceeds with purchasing materials. Steel sections are cut to the required dimensions using various cutting methods. Our repertoire of cutting techniques includes sawing, shearing, plasma cutting, flame cutting, and CNC cutting, ensuring accuracy and precision in every cut.
  • Machining and Drilling: As per the project requirements, the steel sections undergo machining processes to incorporate slots, holes, or other necessary features. Using milling, drilling, and punching machines, we precisely craft the desired features.
  • Welding and Assembly: Recognising the pivotal role of welding in structural steel fabrication, Twenty20 Engineering offers a diverse array of welding techniques tailored to each project's unique needs. Our company employs arc welding, or gas metal welding (MIG) methods, conducted by trained and certified welders to ensure strong connections meet structural standards. Twenty20 Engineering incorporates alternative assembly methods such as bolting and riveting when required.
  • Surface treatment: We offer a variety of surface treatments to optimise your steel components for longevity and visual appeal. Depending on the project's requirements, we employ sandblasting or shot blasting for optimal cleaning and adhesion. For ultimate corrosion resistance, we offer galvanising, while primers and paint systems provide additional protection against rust, especially in harsh environments.
  • Quality control: Our comprehensive quality control procedures ensure manufactured steel components meet exact specifications, guaranteeing a smooth transportation and erection process. Additionally, we perform a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on welds to verify they comply with the highest standards.
  • Transport: The steel components are carefully loaded to protect their quality during transport to the construction site. Based on the construction plans, components are erected and installed.
